To All Participants of the 41st Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Drug Delivery System (DDS)

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well during the summer solstice season.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support and active participation in the 41st Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Drug Delivery System (DDS), held over two days, June 17 (Tuesday) and 18 (Wednesday), 2025, at Makuhari Messe International Convention Center.

Under the central theme, “Attack via DDS: Open up New Frontiers,” this year’s program was designed to showcase cutting-edge DDS technologies and promote interdisciplinary, future-oriented research. With enthusiastic participation from both domestic and international attendees, the meeting featured 256 contributed presentations (143 oral and 113 poster), nine symposia, two special lectures, two special sessions, nine luncheon seminars, and 46 corporate exhibits. Each session was filled with vibrant presentations and lively discussions. We are also profoundly grateful for the generous support and sponsorship provided by ) companies and organizations.

This year also marked the return—after three years—of the “Research Proposal Contest for Junior and Senior High School Students.” We received 17 applications, of which (  ) were selected for poster presentations. The proposals reflected diverse and creative perspectives, ranging from disease treatment and aesthetic medicine using material design, targeting strategies, and controlled release, to broader themes such as space science, ecosystems, marine pollution, fragrances, and mental healthcare. The originality and depth of insight demonstrated by these young researchers were truly inspiring, offering valuable lessons and renewed optimism for the future. We firmly believe that the craftsmanship inherent in DDS aligns exceptionally well with Japan’s educational culture and inquiry-based learning, and we look forward with great anticipation to further developments in this area.

We were honored to welcome Professor Shinichi Nishikawa (Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University), who delivered a thought-provoking lecture tracing the emergence of life through to the age of artificial intelligence, and Dr. Yasuhiro Matsumura (National Cancer Center / RIN Institute, Inc.), who shared insights into innovative therapeutic strategies targeting the cancer stroma. Both presentations provided profound intellectual stimulation and left a lasting impression on all participants.

Furthermore, the award lectures for the 3rd Japan DDS Society Award and the 17th Young Investigator Awards highlighted the remarkable achievements of those who have advanced the field, while also celebrating the outstanding work of emerging researchers who will lead the next generation.

We sincerely thank all speakers and presenters, the sponsoring companies and organizations, and the many committee members and staff whose tireless efforts ensured the success of this meeting. While there may have been areas for improvement, the meeting concluded successfully thanks to the warm understanding and support of all involved.

We hope that the interdisciplinary exchanges and practical knowledge shared throughout the meeting will inspire future research, bold initiatives, and clinical applications—driving the DDS field toward even greater progress through “Attack via DDS.”

Although I would have preferred to express my appreciation to each of you in person, please accept this letter as my formal expression of gratitude.

With best wishes for your continued health and success.

Sincerely,
Masahiro Yasunaga, M.D., Ph.D.
